Beware: Hyland’s Teething Tablets

This post is supposed to be about how I find Hyland’s teething tablets helped little man to sleep better, probably due to the chamomilla as one of its ingredient. It is supposed to be homeopathic.

Homeopathy, or homeopathic medicine, is a medical philosophy and practice based on the idea that the body has the ability to heal itself.

I first heard about these tablets from some mothers in an online group. Little man was teething badly then, waking up almost every other hour. I went to iHerb to read about the reviews and most were surprisingly good. Hence I went ahead to purchase them. However I was hesitate to let little man take every day, because although homeopatic, it’s never good to take such tablets every day since they are not supplements. They worked most of the time so far. I think up till now, little man has taken about 20 tablets so far over a span of a month. I was even thinking of buying a second bottle!

However, to my horror, in my search for more information to write this post, I found that one of the ingredient in these tablets as actually rather harmful for children. I have found these 3 articles and now I feel really angry at myself for giving little man such tablets without actually finding more about it. 🙁

Hyland’s Teething Tablets Recalled for Poisoning Risk

Hyland’s Teething Tablets: Questions and Answers

Hyland’s Teething Tablets have been recalled for causing seizures in children.

Thank God nothing bad happened to little man. I will never be able to forgive myself.

Lesson learnt: For safety sake, choose a product that is sold in Singapore. Or do more research about it.

I am now throwing this current bottle into the bin. No amount of sleepless nights is going to make me give that poison to my child. I think I will just stick to pure chamomile tea for now.

Hubby is going to be so mad at me after reading this post. 🙁
